Mother Nature performs some magic on Bradenton Beach

With a bit of help from Suzi Fox and the Turtle Watch members, hatchlings were released against a glorious AMI sky

Members of Anna Maria Island Turtle Watch and visitors watch as a newly hatched sea turtles are released and make their way to the Gulf of Mexico at Bradenton Beach on Anna Maria Island during sunset hours on Tuesday August 30, 2011.

The environmental group led by Suzi Fox holds educational talks, monitors turtle nests and documents their hatch rate to ensure successful hatchings. The weaker hatchlings at the bottom often suffocate or drown if they don't get out because of the stronger nest mates above, so the group also monitors hatched nests and looks for turtles that were not able to make it out. This is necessary to increase the chances of survival. More info at islandturtlewatch.com Video by Chris So / A Lime Cottage Vacation Rental
